Narrative Writing Workshop
Journey into the telling and listening of stories of caregiving.
MAC Angels offers monthly narrative medicine workshops for ALS caregivers. Narrative Medicine is an emerging interdisciplinary field at the intersection of the humanities and medicine.
In small participatory workshops, we examine experiential narratives such as poems and short prose excerpts. Participants then write a short reflection on themes generated by the discussion and volunteer to share their writing with the group in a safe and confidential environment.
Participation in our workshops gives caregivers the opportunity to voice their experience of caregiving for someone with ALS in a community atmosphere of respectful listening. Participants gain an understanding of how health, illness and disability experiences affect themselves, their families and their communities.
Workshops are held the fourth Tuesday of every month
from 6:30-8:30.
