There are a number of organizations focused on raising the dollars needed to fund cutting-edge research, and to find treatments and a cure for ALS.
The goal of MAC Angels Foundation is to complement these efforts, by filling the "survivorship" gap for ALS families in need.
The mission of MAC Angels Foundation is to enhance the quality of life for patients, family members and caregivers impacted daily by ALS, by providing the compassion, education and unique resources needed to manage the devastating effects of this disease.

HELP FOR YOUR FAMILY BEGINS TODAY
The first step in getting the help and understanding needed to comprehend this fast-moving disease begins by reaching out.
Journey into the telling and listening of stories of caregiving. MAC Angels offers monthly narrative medicine workshops for ALS caregivers. Narrative Medicine is an emerging interdisciplinary field at the intersection of the humanities and medicine.
In small participatory workshops, we examine experiential narratives such as poems and short prose excerpts. Participants then write a short reflection on themes generated by the discussion and volunteer to share their writing with the group in a safe and confidential environment.
Participation in our workshops gives caregivers the opportunity to voice their experience of caregiving for someone with ALS in a community atmosphere of respectful listening. Participants gain an understanding of how health, illness and disability experiences affect themselves, their families and their communities.
Workshops are held the fourth Tuesday of every month from 6:30-8:30. Burke Rehabilitation Hospital Clock Tower Building Room 202 785 Mamaroneck Avenue White Plains, NY
