Who We Are

For those of us at the MAC Angels Foundation, watching a loved one suffer from ALS has forever changed our lives.

The MAC Angels Foundation was inspired by Claire Collier, who lost her courageous battle with ALS in 2009. It was through her journey that we learned of the emotional, educational and financial support needed to manage ALS. Our Angels are committed to keeping Claire's spirit alive, by offering that same support to others facing ALS.

There are many organizations focused on raising the dollars needed to fund cutting-edge research and to finding treatments and a cure for ALS. The MAC Angels Foundation complements these efforts by filling the "survivorship" gap for ALS families. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that's here to support the ALS community ... with services and resources that are desperately needed, and which for some may only be possible through the MAC Angels Foundation.

Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for patients, family members and caregivers affected daily by ALS by providing the compassion, education and unique resources needed to manage the devastating effects of this disease. Our Angels can help with your current needs and, because we've been there before, we can help families anticipate needs and how to meet them.

ALS, also known as "Lou Gehrig's disease," damages motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord. This degenerative and debilitating disease results in a loss of voluntary muscle movement, eventually making it difficult for ALS patients to walk, talk and breathe. This process creates special living needs for ALS patients. Our Angels will sit in your living room, listen to your concerns, and recommend individualized solutions for your specific needs. MAC Angels programs and services are described in more detail on the "Support" pages but they include:

Building Your Network: Helping to create and organize your personal support network.

Insurance and Healthcare: Assisting families so they can navigate the complex and costly legal process involved in seeking insurance coverage and making informed choices about treatment and care.

Living with ALS: Helping families to re-configure their living spaces to accommodate a person living with ALS.

It was Claire's remarkable spirit, love of life and commitment to live life fully with her disease that inspired her family and friends to form the MAC Angels Foundation. We have vowed to honor Claire's legacy by making a difference in the lives of other families with ALS.

If you or someone you care about has been diagnosed with ALS, you are not alone. Our Angels are here to listen and to help. So please take a moment to visit our site and learn more about our support programs. Whether it's answering your questions or guiding you through the process ... let us know how we can make a difference.
